Yr 10 Dance

Site Specific Dance: This activity requires students to perform in a choreographed group dance. The dance will be a site-specific work that uses, interprets, and responds to a chosen location. Students will use the dance elements and conventions to choreograph movement in response to a chosen site around the school.
Sculpture Dance: Students will create a dance based on a chosen sculpture focusing on the creating group sculptures displaying balance, counter balance and lifts. Students will interpret the sculpture for their movements looking closely at the history, mood and theme of the piece they choose to work with.
Dance Film: Students will study dance on film and create their own dance films based on a chosen social issue of their choice.
You will learn to:
• Develop a variety of skills, dance techniques, vocabularies and movement practises through exploring a range of dance genres and applying these skills to a range of contexts.
• Prepare, rehearse, and perform dance with an awareness of production technologies.
• Use the elements of dance and choreographic devices to develop choreography skills through creating a range of group dances.
• Reﬂect on and describe how choreography communicates ideas, feelings, moods, and experiences
