Level 1 English
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Ms V. Scott
In Year 11, classes will select a theme of literature that they are interested in studying. In 11ENG all three external standards are taught alongside four internal standards.
The class together with the teacher will co-construct a theme. These themes could possibly include Society and their Influences, Heroes and Villains, Breaking Stereotypes, Moral Dilemmas or others based on the class decision.
Students study a range of texts to support this theme, which prepares them for the internal standards on offer.
You will learn to:
• critically respond to ideas in texts, using relevant evidence to justify your ideas and make connections between and beyond texts
• appreciate, understand and explore a range of text types, including contemporary and older literature, films and other texts
• communicate ideas confidently and clearly in oral and written forms
