Course Description

This combination of trades related courses is seen as a pathway to potential careers and future employment with the automotive industry.
There is the single line option Automotive Repair and Maintenance (ARM). This is a single line option that will offer students instruction and understanding of basic vehicle body repair and mechanical maintenance.
Level 2 Automotive Technology has been designed to provide senior students with unit standard credits in automotive technology. There are eight level 2 unit standards, worth a total of 18 credits, available over the 15 week school semester. The progress of the students is dependent on their ability and application. Students who complete this course will be eligible for further study towards the Manukau Institute of Technology Certificate of Achievement in Automotive Technology Level 2.
You will learn to:
• demonstrate knowledge of automotive cooling systems
• demonstrate knowledge of workshop tools and equipment
• demonstrate knowledge of motor vehicle systems and components
• demonstrate knowledge of two and four stroke petrol and diesel engines
• work safely in an automotive body repair workshop
