Can you use your business skills to make a better world? Well, you’ll get the chance to in Business Studies in Year 12. We will give you the opportunity to develop a business plan that improves the wellbeing of a community group – it could be a charity, primary school or local club. In recent years we’ve had students collect $1000’s for charity through selling many products; students have worked in special needs as well as primary schools. Will you be next? But before you start, you’ll need to find-out exactly what your market wants – that’s where the unit on market research comes in.
On top of this you will have to make connections to business people and analyse how they motivate their staff; could you offer suggestions to raise productivity in a real business?

• explore the dynamic nature of large businesses and their internal and external operations
Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
Workbook costing approximately $41 and approximately $40 for EOTC activities. As part of the course students are in groups conducting a business activity. There may be some financial contributions involved in setting this up. Students will be encouraged to fundraise for this.
Recommended Prior LearningNCEA Level 1 – But we will look at this if you can show evidence about being successful elsewhere – business is not all about academics.
