12ENA

Level 2 English ENA

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Ms V. Scott

In year 12, students select a theme of literature that they are interested in studying. In 12 ENA, B and C courses, all three external standards are studied alongside three internal standards. A combination of these standards provide students with the University Entrance literacy requirement.

Students in 12ENA study the theme of Speculative fiction. In this course, through futuristic and/or dystopian texts, we examine the way that humans cope in alternate realities. This course seeks to answer the philosophical "what if?" questions and challenges students to consider a world beyond the one that they are currently experiencing.

You will learn to:
• critically respond to ideas in texts, using relevant evidence to justify your ideas and make connections between and beyond texts
• appreciate, understand and explore a range of text types, including contemporary and older literature, films and other texts
• communicate ideas confidently and clearly in oral and written forms.

Please refer to the course video for further information about the thematic choices.
