Level 2 Food Technology

This course is designed for those students looking to follow a career path in the product development industry. This course leads to level 3 food technology. Technology achievements standards are recognised for university entry following level 3 study.
If you are choosing more than one technology course, the same standards may be offered over multiple courses - check achievement standard numbers as this may affect credits available.
You will learn to:
• develop research methods, new food product development techniques and a range of food preparation applications and processes
• develop skills in problem solving and working with others
• research and develop a solution for a food based need or opportunity
Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
$80 - Plus students may be required to bring in additional or specialised ingredients depending on the products they design. Solid leather covered shoes are required for practical lessons.
Recommended Prior LearningLevel 1 Food Technology or on negotiation with the Head of Department - Food. NCEA Level 1 (80 credits). Level 1 Numeracy and Literacy and having a genuine interest in cooking, food, ingredients and carrying out research is strongly recommended.
Total Credits Available: 22 credits.
Externally Assessed Credits: 4 credits.
Internally Assessed Credits: 18 credits.
