Yr 9 Social Studies
Teacher in Charge: Mr M. Williamson
You will learn about current issues; about your role and the role of others in our community and beyond; how the world has become more linked through the interactions of people, how decisions made by governments and leaders in the past and present affect ways of life; and how economic decisions impact on people and places.
You will learn to:
• Run a mock election after firstly developing your party logo, policies and strategies
• Design an innovative idea that you will market to your fellow students to help improve the facilities at Pakuranga College. The final
presentation will be to the school principal who will judge the final result and the winning group.
• Explore perspectives and interactions between different groups of people that make up the New Zealand population
• Conduct an investigation into a local environmental issue.
