Course Description

Year 10 Mathematics is a core subject, for four periods per week, n which students develop further the concepts met at Year 9 in the three curriculum strands; Number and Algebra, Geometry and Measurement and Statistics.

Students will learn content from levels 4, 5 and 6 of the National Mathematics and Statistics Curriculum, but most students will be concentrating on level 5.

EasTTle is used for pre and post topic assessments and allows students and their families to get excellent feedback on student progress and learning. Students will also complete a written Algebra Common Test at the end of the year.

Student will have the possibility to attempt at least one level 1 standard.

Future Pathways
Students will be place in Level 1 Mathematics class as determined by the Mathematics Faculty, or at the discretion of the Head of Faculty. As a guide, students need to achieve the following:
11MTA have reached 5A in Algebra and Number topics
11MTB have reached 5P or better in most topics
11MTN have reached 4A or better in most topics

Level 1 Mathematical Numeracy, Level 1 Mathematics - MTA, Level 1 Mathematics - MTB, Level 2 Mathematical Numeracy, Yr 9 Mathematics Extension

Recommended Prior Learning Students will be placed in Level One Mathematics class as determined by the Mathematics faculty or at the discretion of the Head of Faculty.
