Year 12 Business Studies will equip you with the practical skills and techniques to conduct market research to make informed business decisions. This will then allow you to develop, carry out and review a business plan/activity. Group work is a large component of the first half of this course and you will need to contribute start-up capital (funds) to carry out your group’s business activity. This course also explores the practical/theoretical ways businesses motivate their employees in addition to how and why large businesses react to external factors and the decisions made as a result of those factors.
Term 1
Conduct market research and a report in a group for a potential product you will sell at two school market days.
Develop a business plan in a group for the product you will sell.
Term 2
Carry out and review your business activity in the following sequence: 1st Market Day → Review → 2nd Market Day → Review.
Explore a variety of motivational theories/strategies and conduct preliminary research on a business you will apply those theories during a field trip to Spookers.
Term 3
Prepare a report on how a business applies motivational theories/strategies to its employees.
Begin learning about external factors which influence the running of large businesses (political, environmental, social, technological, economics and legal).
Term 4
Complete learning about external factors.
Revise for external exam.
The market research and business activity internal assessments are completed as a group and individual grades are determined through contribution, reviews of the first and second market days, peer evaluations, and teacher observations.
The external factors external assessment is digital.
