Course Description

Recommended Prior Learning

Completion of 11VRT is recommended. 



You will learn to:

  • Research and investigate a broad range of materials, techniques, and established practices to extend and refine skills in the design process.
  • Generate, develop, and clarify ideas using a combination of hand-generated and digital approaches.
  • Develop a sound control of Adobe Creative Cloud applications for re-generation and refinement for presentation.
  • Work independently with teacher guidance to produce a systematic body of work in response to their own proposal thereby gaining the practical experience of engaging in project-based learning. 
  • Students will complete two workbook submissions for the two internals and 2x A1 folio board for external submissions.

Course Overview

Term 1
First internal AS 91310 - learning about digital software Photoshop in Design and Illustrator as well as studying the specific pictorial elements of Design.

Term 2
Second internal AS 91315 - creating specific design briefs - logos, poster, web design, billboards, ad shells, design within marketing such as tickets and labels.
Second half of the term - begin work on the folio - 2 x A1 boards of design work - external.

Term 3
Completion of 2 x A1 folio boards by the end of the term.

Term 4
Refinement of briefs and printing of folio board - Week 1 - 3.

Assessment Information

AS 91310 - 2.2 Use drawing methods to apply knowledge of conventions appropriate to design - internal - 4 credits
AS 91315 - 2.3 Develop ideas in a related series appropriate to established design practice - internal - 4 credits
AS 91320 - Produce a systematic body of work that shows understanding of art-making conventions and ideas within design - external - 12 credits

Could lead to any career in the Creative Arts that may include painting, design, photograph, media, advertising, curatorial studies.

A suggested art materials pack as per stationery list to allow for continued practice and work at home
