Year 9 Art is a one term course. 

In Year 9 Art, you will learn to:

  • Explore and develop practical skills by applying knowledge of art and design elements and principles.
  • Develop appropriate control of a range of materials, techniques and technologies in 2D and 3D art forms.
  • Use a range of media and processes to communicate ideas in art supported by artmaking conventions or established practice.

Course Overview

Term 1
A one-term course that covers skills covering a range of 2D and 3D media plus a thematic study from one or two fields - painting, printmaking, design, sculpture.

Assessment of
Practical Knowledge -
- Attention to detail in the outlining of shape & recording of tone.
- An understanding of colour theory evident.
- Control of the brush when painting.
- Willing to experiment with techniques.
Developing Ideas -
- Able to develop & apply ideas in a way that shows understanding of the concepts presented.
- Is interested in the work of the artists presented & is willing to adapt some aspects into their own work
